FE-FE CARLY SOTO

We picked up our new member of the family yesterday after work. Her name is Fe-fe which is what the kids decided fit her best :) She's 9 wks old and is a pretty good puppy...she bites still, but that's normal...we're working on potty training and getting her on a regular eating schedule...other than that she's pretty awesome...I don't think Tomas wants to admit it, but he really likes her :) She likes him too. She snuggled up to him before the rest of us..

Reality is sinking in....

this is Alyssa when she was about 6.... so little :)

This is Alyssa January of 2010

Okay, so yesterday Lyssa gave us the great news….she passed the TAKS!!!! She’ll be going to 4th grade next year! We are so happy and excited for her… and now we have to get her a puppy J cause well that was our deal and to help her get seriously motivated to pass this test…

I was talking with Tomas about it over the phone and started to come to the realization that just in 2 years, my little girl will be going to Middle School and will become a teenager! L As much as I am happy to see her grow up…I’m also saddened with the idea that my daughter, my Lyssa won’t be my little girl for much longer…I’m not looking forward to her wanting her independence…

I know it seems like 2 years is still far away, but not that far…the years go by so fast L I can still remember when she was born like it were yesterday…and when she started walking and crawling and talking her baby talk (gibberish) that I had to try and guess what she was saying… I remember all that and more…9 years have gone by so fast! FUNFEST 2010

Alyssa had her choir competition last Wednesday at Sandy Lake Park. I showed up around 1:30 and found them practicing their songs and their choreography. Soon after they performed their two songs…I’m not sure what they were called, but they did really good.  Alyssa was on the front row, doing her thing and she didn’t miss a beat. Neither did the other kids – it was really great to see them do so well!   We were all super proud of them regardless if they had won or not…but when they called their name and said that they placed at No. 1 – we all cheered and were even more proud of them. They worked so hard and even though they didn’t show us how prepared they were during practice, they really nailed it when it came to the real thing!

Tommy and his cast

Okay, so it turned out that Tommy needed a cast after all L He was all excited just because he was able to pick out the color – what color you ask? Well Red of course! That’s his and my favorite color J

It turned out that he has an elbow fracture and it didn’t need surgery or pins, so I was very happy about that! He only has to wear it for 3 weeks so he should be good as new by June 1st!

We started signing it yesterday and it’s almost covered up! I’m sure he’ll have more signatures on there when he gets home from school today. I’m just happy it wasn’t anything more serious than this. Hopefully this will be the last time he’ll crack or break anything…but I won’t get my hopes up too high…this is Tommy we’re talking about J

Mom's Day 2010

This weekend was Mom’s Day weekend…. My hubby and monkeys really showed me a great time! It started Friday night  - dinner and a movie J Dinner was at Pluckers (our fav spot ever) and we then went to North Park to watch Iron Man 2! We’ve never gone out to see a movie the Friday night that it’s out, we usually wait for the Saturday morning showing. The kids were shocked that we had to get in line to wait to be allowed to sit. They’ve experienced that before when we go to SMG but never at North Park… but they had a good time.

Saturday, we took my little Sister, Gaby out for her belated birthday. We took her out to eat to Burger Island and then took her to Best Buy to pick out a gift. She had to choose between an IPod Touch or a Nintendo DSi or XL…she picked the DSiJ We got her a game and the warranty, just in case it breaks for whatever reason. We took her out for ice cream right before we took her home. We dropped off my mom’s mom’s day flowers when we dropped her off. I know my mom and I aren’t getting along really well and it’s really weird when we see each other, but I’ll still give her gifts as long as she’s willing to accept them.

Sunday we woke up a little late, Tomas wasn’t home when I woke up. He went to get breakfast – pastries J and of course my flowers. He does this every year…It’s not really a surprise, but I look forward to it every year. He surprises me with the different types of flowers or bouquet and a different sweet for me. This year he brought me Starbucks too! Which I have to admit was really nice and sweet of him J He got flowers so they can all give me flowers and then Tommy said he hoped to get me Lilies… I said well you still can silly. Go get them from outside – so he did and they were really pretty. (he got them from the front yard J) We then went back to sleep a little later and then went to go do some shopping for me… it was great! This Mom’s day was really awesome…spending the whole weekend with my monkeys and hubby was awesome! I hope we do this for many more Mom’s day to come J Thanks to my Mr. Soto and our awesome monkeys for making it so great and memorable! Love you guys and I’m truly grateful to have ya as my family…

My monkey can't climb Monkey Bars!

I got a phone call on Friday afternoon from Tommy’s school, and they said that he fell off the Monkey bars! I was so scared, I hurried up and got ready and made Tomas hurry up so we can get there ASAP! I was so worried…When I finally got there, I found Tommy all sad looking in the nurse’s office. I asked him if it hurt and he said yes… I swear I was about to start crying just seeing my baby boy like that LI asked him what happened, and he said he fell off the monkey bars…I asked him if it was his first time on them, and he said yeah. He said he slipped off the 3rd bar and fell right on his left elbow – OUCH! He had his arm in a sling that they made for him with some ice on it to keep it from swelling. I hugged him so tight! I just wanted him to stop hurting and to start getting better.

The nurse said that he might have a fracture, so I’d have to take him to get X-rays done on his elbow…We took Alyssa out of school that day too, cause we didn’t know how long we would take at the doctor’s office. On our way out of the school, just about every teacher and about 5 students went up to him and asked him if he was okay and asked what had happened… they all told him that they hoped he’d get better soon J He was famous that day, one of Alyssa’s former teachers had sent me a message on Facebook saying that everyone was talking about it – she just didn’t know that it was Tommy.  I got a hold of his pediatrician and she said that they couldn’t see him, cause they won’t get X-ray results back till the following week. So we went to a Care Now and they were able to X-ray both elbows and found that nothing was broken! J we were so relieved! Tommy wanted a cast, but then I told him all that comes with it, and he changed his mind, so he was happy to not get a cast too!

I know my son is okay, but OMG I was freaking scared! I’m just glad it wasn’t any more serious than what it was. I’m just really happy his okay now…yes still a little sore, but he’s getting better every day… He’s a tough monkey…a monkey that can’t climb the monkey bars J
